ginger pear + bourbon
Fall is my absolute favorite, even though it doesn't really feel crisp and cool here in Dallas. To get into the autumn spirit, I light all my fall candles, crank down the AC and start mixing spiced cocktails! (suck it, PSL)
WHAT YOU NEED
Disclaimer: I'm really bad at math, so don't take these measurements too seriously. Mix your ingredients to suit your own taste!
2 oz. bourbon (I'm using Bulliet Bourbon, because its obviously awesome)
.5 oz. ginger maple syrup
.75 oz. organic pear juice
1/2 lemon, squeezed
dash of Angostura bitters
Sage + pear slices for garnish
MAKE IT
Ginger maple syrup: Using a carrot peeler, peel the skin off about 1 oz. of ginger root. Once it’s all clean and naked, peel the entire root into little pieces, depositing into a small sauce pan. Add about ¼ cup maple syrup, ¼ cup brown sugar, a cinnamon stick, and a little water into the pan with the ginger. Simmer for 15-20 min, until your syrup is nice and spicy. Strain well and chill.
Fill your shaker ¾ of the way with ice. Add all ingredients (sans garnish) and shake for 10-20 seconds. Shake it good. Consider it a mini arms session. Strain the cocktail into your ice filled cocktail glass, top with garnish! The sage adds a lovely woodsy scent to the drink, you can also slap the leaves first to bring out a stronger aroma.
There you go! Easy peasy. You can also sub out the pear juice for apple, or add ginger ale to make it sparkling, or use vodka if whiskey isn’t your jam. The combinations are endless!
Have fun <3
